This hybrid experience combines the best of both worlds, providing a memorable and indulgent adventure. After all, what better way to enjoy the “great outdoors” but in your embroidered cotton nightgown and finest monogrammed robe? So, let’s dive into how to plan a cozy glamping night in your backyard.

#1 Setting the Stage: Your Glamping Sanctuary

Start by identifying the ideal spot in your yard. Look for a level area, preferably with some natural shade and privacy. Once you’ve found the perfect location, rearrange your backyard setup to create a comfortable and inviting atmosphere. This might involve having to figure out how to pack and move outdoor furniture, such as chairs or tables, to accommodate your new glamping haven. Consider adding a few potted plants or flowers to enhance the natural beauty of your space and create a serene, garden-like atmosphere.

#2 A Comfortable Shelter: Tents and Canopies

Next, choose a tent or canopy to serve as your shelter. A well-ventilated and waterproof option is essential. While traditional tents work well, you can also opt for a luxury bell tent or a modern teepee to elevate your glamping experience. Make sure your shelter is spacious enough to accommodate your stunning bedding and any additional furniture you wish to include. Don’t forget to include cozy blankets and fine linen for a touch of indulgence and warmth on cooler evenings. If it rains, don’t worry, you’ll have a handy floral umbrella and pretty poncho at hand to go with your glamping style.

#3 Bedding Bliss: Comfort is Key

Your glamping experience wouldn’t be complete without a comfortable sleeping arrangement. Instead of a standard air mattress, consider using a thick foam mattress topper or a memory foam pad for extra support. Dress your bedding with soft cotton sleepwear, plush pillows, and high-quality linens, ensuring a restful night’s sleep under the stars. Add a few decorative cushions or throw blankets to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere that makes your outdoor space feel like a home away from home.

#4 Lighting the Way: Ambiance and Safety

Outdoor lighting plays a crucial role in setting the mood for your cozy glamping night. String fairy lights around your tent or canopy, and use solar-powered lanterns to light the pathways leading to your glamping site. Not only will this create a magical atmosphere, but it will also help you navigate safely in the dark. For an added touch of elegance, consider using vintage-inspired lanterns or candles in hurricane lanterns to cast a warm, flickering glow throughout your space.

#5 Fireside Fun: Warmth and Entertainment

A fire pit or outdoor fireplace can serve as the focal point for your glamping site. Whether you’re roasting marshmallows, cooking dinner, or simply enjoying the warmth of the fire, gathering around the flames adds a sense of camaraderie and comfort to your backyard adventure. If an open fire isn’t feasible, consider using a portable propane fire pit or electric heater to provide warmth and ambiance without the hassle of tending to a wood-burning fire.

#6 Alfresco Dining: Meals Made Easy

Plan a simple yet delicious menu for your glamping night. Prepare your meals in advance, opting for easy-to-cook or ready-to-eat dishes. Wrap sandwiches or pre-made salads in fine linen napkins, and don’t forget to include our Jacaranda Living vinyl colorful placemats. Consider incorporating a small outdoor dining area with comfortable chairs and a table to make your mealtime more enjoyable. For an added touch of luxury, set the table with elegant tableware and linen napkins, transforming your backyard dining experience into a sophisticated affair.

#7 Relaxation Stations: Unwind in Style

Add a few extra touches to make your backyard glamping night even more memorable. Consider setting up a hammock or cozy outdoor seating area for relaxation. Roll out plush towels on the ground or over your chairs for added comfort. A soft rug or outdoor cushion can also provide a welcoming spot to sit back and enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings. If you’re a bookworm, don’t forget to pack a few of your favorite reads to enjoy by the fire or under the shade of a tree. In case of a cold and need for some pretty linens, pack a pretty embroidered Tissue Box Cover for your Kleenex box and matching fingertip Terry Guest Towels.

#8 Entertainment Essentials: Fun for Everyone

While the natural beauty and serenity of your backyard may be entertainment enough, it’s always a good idea to have a few fun activities on hand. Bring along board games or playing cards for some friendly competition, or set up a portable projector for an outdoor movie night under the stars. If you’re a music lover, a portable Bluetooth speaker can provide the perfect soundtrack to your evening. Whatever your interests, be sure to tailor your entertainment options to suit the preferences of everyone in your party.

#9 Personal Touches: Make It Yours

Finally, add some personal touches to your glamping site to truly make it feel like a home away from home. Incorporate your favorite colors and patterns through monogrammed decorative pillows, blankets, or table linens. Hang some artwork or family photos inside your tent for a cozy, familiar atmosphere. You can even bring along a few cherished keepsakes or mementos to remind you of your favorite travel destinations or past glamping adventures.

Top 5 Reasons To Wear Slippers When You Get Home

When you get home, take your shoes off and put on our comfortable, cozy waffle weave slippers. They are the best! Here’s why it’s important to put on clean slippers and take your shoes off before entering your home.

  1. Protect your health!

Now more than ever, it is crucial to take care of our health. COVID-19 outbreak is a serious threat, and one of the reasons to leave shoes at the front door is to stop the spreading of bacteria and viruses in your home.

If you have small children or pets around the house, they probably spend a lot of time on the floor. By putting on our comfortable slippers and removing shoes before you enter the living room, you keep it clean and bacteria-free. The best way to additionally protect your kids is to get soft indoor booties to keep their feet warm.

  1. Avoid spreading dirt or damaging your floor

Besides preventing harmful bacteria or toxins from entering your home, leaving shoes at the front door will help you keep the dirt off your precious carpet! Another reason is to prevent any damage to the floor. If you wear large boots, they can often catch a few pebbles on the soles. Once you start walking on your hardwood floor, there is a chance it will get scratched. With that in mind, heavy boots off – cotton slippers on!

  1. Maintain clean hygiene

Besides doing everything you can to protect your health and boost your immune system, it is also crucial to keep foot hygiene at a higher level. Wearing shoes all day long will cause an unpleasant smell and sweating. Your feet need some time to relax and breathe.

One of the reasons shoes should be left at the front door is to prevent this issue and take care of your feet.

As soon as you come home, take your shoes off, and give a nice, bubbly bath to your feet. You can even apply a few massage moves to relax your soles and fingers. Feet play a crucial role in our health, so treat them with care.

  1. Show off your favorite embroidered slippers!

Even though the holidays are behind us, there is no reason to stop wearing those awesome vacation slippers you love so much! Many people like to buy colorful slippers with different designs and patterns on them, but no one gets to see them if you wear shoes all day long. Now that we are all working from home, you might as well show off your favorite designs.

  1. Set an example for your children

Kids are like sponges; they learn everything, good or bad. When we see a child who misbehaves, they have probably picked that up from someone close. Parents often unintentionally transfer their bad habits to children.

Children love comfy clothes, introducing the new Zoe dress for your cute princess.

If you wish to raise your kids the right way, make sure to set an example for them. If they see you removing your shoes at the door, they will start doing it themselves. This is an excellent way to teach them proper manners, which may help them in the future. Some cultures take shoe rules very seriously. Set the precedent for them! Shoes off at the front door, slippers on. 🙂

Five Tips for Packing Cosmetics

The time has come to pack for the relocation to your new home. Don’t forget that you should pack some of your cosmetics and toiletries last. This is so important because you need to stay organized before the big move! Plus, you will need those toiletries (most likely) until the last minute and shortly after you relocate. Properly packing cosmetics is vital for their safe transport and your peace of mind. Here at Jacaranda Living, we love cosmetic bags, cosmetic cases, makeup pouches and all things that help you keep your personal belongings neat and in place.

Tip #1: Know your daily routine and make a list

Before anything else, you should know when and what to pack. If you go through your daily routine, you will get a clear image of which items you should pack last. Several necessary cosmetics products should wait outside the moving box until the moving day morning. All must-have items should go into the bag or backpack you’ll carry on your person, so make sure you wrap them tightly.

Take some time to make a (short) list of essential items if you’re unsure which ones you use daily. Don’t worry if you put away something you might need soon after you move in. If there is anything important that you can’t find in your moving boxes right after the move, you can always purchase it online during sales and promotions. When it comes to cosmetics and toiletries, there are the items you use every day and those you need only on special occasions. Moving day is not one of those occasions. You will want to feel comfortable, and we’re sure that doesn’t require several layers of makeup or hair spray. You are unlikely to use such products within the first few weeks after the move, so you should pack them first. We love embroidered natural linen cosmetic bags because they are less likely to get dirty (compared to white waffle) but regardless, you can throw both fabrics in the wash to get clean if they get dirty along the move.

Tip #2: Declutter before you pack

The less space your moving boxes take, the less you are likely to pay for the move. Saving on the moving costs starts with smart packing, and that is where our toiletry bags come in. Moving is also an excellent opportunity to check what you have and dispose of the excess. If you have too much makeup in good condition, give them away to your friends. That is already one bag fewer to pack!

Most of us buy XL packages of favorite toiletries, and they are often less than half full when we need to move or travel. Ideally, you should pour the liquids into smaller bottles and get rid of bulky packaging before packing. Also, remove your tissue box covers to see how many wipes you have left and place them in a resealable plastic bag to save space. Most importantly, check the expiry dates on your cosmetics. If your makeup has dried out or changed color or scent, don’t waste your time packing it. Get a trash bag into the bathroom with you, check your beauty items piece by piece, and dispose of everything you’re not going to use after the move.

Tip #3: Get the right moving box

There are various moving containers in the market today made to fit every moving need. You have a choice when it comes to packing cosmetics and toiletries: you can either use cardboard or plastic moving bins. Cardboard boxes are lighter and easy to come by for free. However, take into consideration the safety of your belongings. If one of the more massive pieces of furniture leans on your box with cosmetics, your bottles with liquids may break, soaking not only the cardboard box but all nearby boxes and belongings.

Plastic moving bins, on the other hand, are sturdy, water-proof, and air-tight. They also come in various sizes. While they are not as inexpensive as cardboard boxes, they are worth the price. Not only are they versatile and reusable, but you can easily clean and disinfect them as well. That is something you can’t do with regular cardboard boxes.

Moreover, getting the right moving container before you start packing cosmetics will also help you unpack systematically to save time after the move. The good thing about methodically packed plastic bins is that you don’t even need to empty them. Use them as a container for your toiletries even after you relocate. These floral printed cosmetic bags make it easy to pack because of the plastic lining and waterproof exterior.

Tip #4: Have a system for packing cosmetics

Even though your movers will do everything in their power to ensure smooth loading and unloading, you should wrap your cosmetics tightly. Unscrew the cap, put plastic wrap over the opening, place the cap back, and tighten it. You can always put bottles with liquids of the same type, such as shower gels, in a resealable zipper bag. When it comes to your powdery cosmetics, make sure you don’t leave any space between their packaging. You can use cotton pads as a buffer for your compact mirror, blush, face powder, and similar items. Don’t hesitate to tape the packaging if you worry it’ll open and spill out in transport. If your moving box is too large for its contents, you can use your decorative pillows as the padding material.

Another essential thing to keep in mind is the temperature. If you’re moving during the summer season, note that the moving vans are not climate-controlled. If you leave the box(es) with cosmetics and toiletries in a truck, you risk a few things. High temperatures can cause some of the product packaging to burst. Some temperature-sensitive items can melt, causing their ingredients to separate and, thus, become ineffective. Also, high temperatures can affect your makeup’s quality (and color), so don’t expose your high-end items to the extremes.

Tip #5: Label the box with cosmetics

Making an inventory and labeling your moving containers comes as the last but not the least important tip. Once the moving day is over, there is nothing people need more than to freshen up. Searching for the box with toiletries in the sea of other boxes is the last thing you will need at that moment. Unless you’re moving your cosmetics bags in your car, clearly label the container and mark it as “Fragile.” You can use a specially colored tape to mark this box and find it quickly when needed.

Clearly labeling your box will ensure that nothing else is stacked upon your sensitive belongings, especially during unloading of the moving van. As long as your container with toiletries is on top of other boxes, the items within tightly closed and buffered, your items will arrive safely to your new home.

Packing Tips for a Quick Business Trip

Tis the season for trade shows and business trips. Are you a packing tips pro? If not, these packing tips may be just what you’re looking for!

Packing Tips – The Essentials

Websites abound that provide a list of packing tips and essentials. Scan through and you’ll find that most contain the same information. The following list inspired by Travel Fashion Girl’s site is a good starting point.

  • Ziploc bags – For dirty or wet items, medications, cosmetics and so much more. Jacaranda Living’s cute lingerie and cosmetic bags are classier than plastic bags, and make finding and organizing your essentials
  • Survival kit – Lip balm, ear plugs, eye drops, moisturizer and hand sanitizer. Fit great in our small Cosmetic bag to throw in a backpack for easy access.
  • A scarf/shawl –to cover up when its cold or you’re traveling to a more conservative destination, or dress up a basic outfit.
  • Small Purse – The large bag is great at home, but less is more for business travel. A small purse works for dinner meetings, evenings out, and makes finding important items, like IDs, cash, cards, etc. much easier.
  • Phone charger –There’s nothing worse than getting stuck without your phone!

As About Travel states, you want to “travel lightly – and look good doing it!”

Quick and easy travel wardrobe

So how do you fit all the clothing needed for a three day business trip into one carryon? IN a list of packing tips, your first task is to select the perfect bag! Jacaranda Living offers some great choices in our Rosehip collection, including both our weekender bag, and the sling bag! Travelista recommends the following:

Travel Wear
  • Jeans – If okay for business travel, a nice pair of skinny jeans (or straight cut/trouser cut) work well with ballet flats or tucked into a sturdy pair of nice boots. Wear them on your travel day to avoid carrying/packing bulky items.
  • Drapey overshirt/tee –Provides coverage when you’re bending, stretching and crawling over the guy who’s sitting in the aisle seat. It also layers great under a sweater or jacket, and can be dressed up with a scarf!
  • Jacket/Sweater – Find something comfortable and light enough to wear for warmer weather, but also something that can give a casual look a bit more polish. Select a neutral color like black, navy, grey or tan.
  • Scarf – A definite must for travel. It’s the one item you’ll always use: as a pool cover up, additional coverage in countries where shoulders, heads, or other body parts must be covered. It can also double as a picnic blanket, or a dressy shawl for a night out. Select a pattern and color that go with the rest of your minimized wardrobe. Hint, hint, you should have a color palette and try to make all pieces you pack work together!
  • Shoes – The lighter the better, but don’t pack too many. If you’re doing a lot of walking, go with something comfortable and supportive. But consider wearing them on travel day, rather than packing them. Don’t forget a dressy look if you’re going out, but if you’ll be on your feet all day skip the stilettos!

Travel day can turn into travel night in a heartbeat if planes get cancelled or delayed. Wearing clothing that can do double duty on your way to your destination is always a good idea.

Pretty cosmetic bags to keep your essentials organized
Coordinated linen cosmetic bags

The best way to pack wisely for a quick business trip is to know what you’ll be doing, and select clothing that falls into a color palette that works together. Then choose clothing that does double duty. Wear bulky or heavy items, and stay away from items that wrinkle easily, or won’t stand up to a full day of wear.

Don’t forget medications, and personal items, and if you travel frequently consider keeping essentials packed and ready to go at a moment’s notice. It takes the stress out of last minute packing, and forgetting important items. Having everything packed ahead of time gives you the time you need to prepare work related items, papers, and technology so when you arrive at your destination you’ll be ready to go!

Packing Tip! Jacaranda Living offers a variety of cosmetic bags, sling bags, and weekender bags that are perfect for a quick business trip, and add style to your business look.
